"There must be a special place in hell for these Privatizers, Charterizers and Voucherziers," wrote Colorado House Education Committee chairman Mike Merrifield in an email to Colorado state Sen. Sue Windels, according to the Rocky Mountain News. After the email went public, Merrifield made no apologies for the email attacking supporters of charter schools, according to the newspaper.
Now, he has resigned his chairmanship of the Education Committee.
In the latest in our "Caught By Email" series, the Colorado Springs Gazette reports that "Merrifield’s decision was not entirely his own. ... “The decision that Rep. Merrifield reached was one we reached together,” House Speaker Andrew Romanoff said."
