British researchers, commissioned by Hewlett-Packard, claim that email use and texting causes a noticeable 10-point drop in IQ. They said that it causes a state of "infonania" that compares unfavorably to smoking marijuana. "The noticeable drop in IQ is attributed to the constant distraction of “always on” technology when employees should be concentrating on what they are paid to do," the article said.
I wonder how many emails the guys at HP sent before authorizing the study.
