Its got sex. Its got politics. Its got email. Could it be juicier?
We may find out soon after August 3rd whether emails from the New Jersey governor are public records. But, it is the opportunity for scandal that has most of the press salivating. New Jersey Republicans are suing New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine, not a Republican, to release emails he indicated were private communications.
It would seem that the Republicans hope that the emails are between Corzine and his ex-girlfriend Carla Katz, a powerful state labor leader. Reports say that she is a past lover to whom he reportedly gave millions in gifts after they broke up.
"They broke up just before he began his run for governor. It's been known for two years that he gave Katz $470,000 to pay off a home mortgage. Last month, "The New York Times" reported he gave her more than $6 million in gifts, including $470,000 to pay off a home mortgage," reported the Associated Press.
On August 3rd, Corzine is due in court to explain why the e-mails should not be public.
