Spam seems to be one of leading exports of some African companies. But pure domestic spam is invading mailboxes in Kenya in advance of elections on December 27th, according to All Africa.
Frequent virus attacks over the past month have disabled computers and caused a scare among Internet service providers. Viruses are eating up the desktop folders of the computers and besides possible damage to the equipment, have also destroyed vital information, according to Muchiri Kabogo, a manager at Nairobi Net, which runs a network of cyber cafes in Nairobi and also operates an Internet service provider.
It seems that many Internet users have been looking out for the juicy campaign propaganda, usually scandals touching on the top three presidential candidates. These at first seemed readily available as election campaign material through the candidate sites and email campaigns. However, the information turned out to be viruses that did major damage to an unspecified number of computers.
